Two, or three days ago Blizzard announced Diablo 4 next expansion, and with it the so much expected, and desired, paladin class—there will be another, but they have not disclosed it yet. The kick, and trick, is that the class is playable now, as long as one pre-orders the expansion. Needless is to say that Gawain, which is my paladin’s name, is level 55 now.
I have been playing it with abandon, simply having fun and experimenting with the class. And lots of fun it is!

I made the mistake of “buying” Diablo IV and Last Epoch for desktop computers because they entised me with a great price, but never, ever, again. You get what you pay for.
games rantsGot invited to a warband raid yesterday, in Diablo Immortal. Afterwards got an invite to their clan. Upon joining, a warm welcome instructed encouraged me to join their Discord channel. Then, and only then, they started to lose me. There is no other technology I dislike more than Discord. Also, it is a game, to entertain me a little, not a job.
Showed a nephew some of what’s possible to do within Diablo IV, and he said, “I don’t think I will ever be able to learn this game”. He has never played a season, and is at paragon 152 while still having rare (yellow) items, and no paragons assigned, and no customisation of any kind. He has, pretty much, been playing blindy all along. 😂

So far a lazy day today. No work (happy 4th!), so woke up at a luxurious 06:30 hours. Had coffee with mum, got coffee for Horsie, played a bit of Diablo IV (manning a Spiritborn this season), went to return some clothes, bought bánh mì, took some to mum, some to aunties, and now back home. All that, and is barely 14:30. Rain’s coming, which will make today even a better day. Couch bound!
food gamesI tried to give Diablo Immortal a fair try again, but can’t handle the amount of “red dots” on the screen—that is, notifications overflow trying to sell you things, or making you complete stuff in-game. It never stops! Deleted, 21.7GiB of storage reclaimed.
gamesBased on everything I have read, Diablo IV season 9 is going to be a flunk (it could be a player base over-reaction). I would happily play Diablo III instead if it weren’t for the Battle.net application, which requires Rosetta 2. I don’t want to run anything legacy.

Blizzard is bringing the druid class to Diablo Immortal (the “pay-to-win” mobile game), and just like that it got me to download the game again. I don’t think I will stick, nor spend a penny on it, but I think it will amuse me for a little.
gamesI downloaded, installed, and gave a try yesternight to “Final Fantasy XIV” (the free trial) and, after a brief 5-10 minutes playtime, I don’t think it’s the game for me. I don’t like the way controls work with it on PS5. It comes across as a game developed for desktop computers, and later ported to console. It is confussing and rather clunky. So, still waiting for a special on “No Man’s Sky” to return. Meanwhile, there is “Diablo IV”.

I missed the opportunity to buy “No Man’s Sky” for $25, and now it is back to $60. It attracted me to play it, because I have been looking for a space exploration game, but I was afraid that it would be too immersive. I have, after all, limited play time. I am sure a new special pricing will return.

Blizzard is at it again with a very lame anniversary “celebration”. That is, some worthless cosmetics, an extra Gift of the Tree cache on turn-ins, and some increased experience gain which will not be enought to get me to paragon 300 this season (I have never been able to reach it, because it requires a mind boggling amount of experience).
I don’t see me buying the season pass ever again. Absolutely not worth it.

I played a little bit of Diablo IV yesterday. This season 8 is rather unfun, mostly for a few reasons: bosses one-hit kill attacks, only one boss having a 3% mythic gear drop, and the summoning materials for it “discovered” randomly, and runes extremely low drop rate. Runes are used to create targetted mythic gear.
gamesMy little experiment with hardcore gaming—as in, if you die you lose the toon, and everything it was in it—has come to an end. In the last three days I created 10 toons, taking the highest one to level 70 (out of 100 maximum possible). Each one of them died at certain stage. I’ve had enough now. 😅

gamesSony’s PlayStation Network is increasing the price of all their plans. The PlayStation Plus Essential (the least expensive plan, which I have because without it some online games cannot be played) will go from $60/year to $80/year. They are justifying it by saying that it “will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games and benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service.” I get absolutely nothing, just paying for the ability to use my Internet connectivity on the console. How ducked up is that?!
Suffice it to say, I will not be renewing my subscription. Duck Sony (yes, duck it)!
games rantsBased on what I have seeing of the gameplay and the looks, I have absolutely no interest, nor desire to play, Baldur’s Gate 3. Almost died of boredom! I will pass, 100%.

About Diablo IV’s patch notes there has been much controversy. Blizzard has truly made the game less fun with it, but it is a game, and I don’t give it much thought. Now for those who think the patch is the worse ever, think again!
gamesDiablo IV season 1 is coming 20 July. I think it is coming out too soon. My only toon is level 94. Those last 6 levels will take a while. Like, I don’t think I will be 100 on the eternal realm before season 1 releases.

Well, well, well. From the latest patch notes:
“Fixed an issue where the Weekly Reward Cache for defeating a World Boss would display as available if there was an active Whisper for defeating the boss, even when the Cache had already been claimed previously.”
That had to be it, I see no other explanation. Nothing lost then, carry on! Phew!
gamesHave killed three world bosses on Diablo IV this week, so far, none dropping the legendary cache (a once per week, per boss, item). Game has broken very recently, after the 4 July weekend. No support is provided, only posting on their forum. Ugh!
