Just like on this one, kid asked me last night to mention five characters’ names from the “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” series we just saw. Should I see a doctor if I could only remember the names of the two main protagonists? 😅

Kid and I watched all six episodes of the “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” (★★★★★) HBO series, starting last Saturday, ending last night. I have to say that episode one and two had me doubting for a little, on whether or not to continue watching it. On the series, the main character, Dunk, differ from any character on George R.R. Martin fantasy books. He is too… humorous? Anyway, I am glad I didn’t give up. Really looking forward to season two!

We are finishing watching “Game of Thrones” (★★★★★) for the second time, and you may take me as crazy, but I am already thinking on watching it again. For someone who didn’t believe the original hype about it, I have become quite an adept fan. Truly well done series.

Finished watching “Plur1bus” (★★★★☆) sometime last week. I liked it, but I reckon I made a mistake. Last episode was a cliffhanger, just as it happens with any ongoing series, and I now must wait god knows how long until the next season hatches.

We saw so many movies, and series, during the holidays that I would be dropping notes for a while, should I remembered them all. I better wait until I see them the second time.

Was watching “Doctors” (★★★☆☆) today. It was great the first 3 episodes. By episode 5 I don’t think I want to continue. Well, I am sure I don’t want to. I’d rather avoid 15 episodes of getting upset, or shaking my head in disbelief, or both.

It was a good try, and not time wasted. It would have been if I continue watching. So, calling it a wrap now is the sensible thing to do.

Now that we have re-subscribed to Hulu, we have restarted watching the ever awesome “Futurama” (★★★★★) , now on season 13. I am going to assume you know what “Futurama” is, but if you don’t, please look for it, and watch it. You will be thankful.

Last Sunday I binged all 6 episodes of “Last Samurai standing” (★★★☆☆) . Episodes 1, 2, and 3 were excellent, then it started to go places that bored me a bit. Remember “Squid Game”? Well, “Last Samurai standing” is the version of it, kind of, as a Japanese historical drama. Season 2 is not decided yet, but based on my liking of season 1 I shall see it once, and if, it comes out.

I am watching “Wednesday” (★★★★☆) with the kid. It is pretty entertaining, and the actor on the main role, Jenny Ortega, totally aces it. I had started to watch it alone when the first season came out, but Horsie diverted me elsewhere. Glad it happened, so that I can have a watching pal this time around!

Currently on season 2 of “The Pride of the Temp” (★★★★☆) , a Japanese drama series based around an extremely skilled temp worker (派遣, haken), and her incredible array of obscure certifications and skills.

Often reminding me of “The Office”, the series uses Haruko’s (the main character and temp worker) encounters with her fulltime workmates to humorously explore the social and economic divide between permanent and temporary employees in Japan’s corporate culture.

We are finishing watching “Tōkyō Tarareba Girls” (★★★★☆) with just one episode left, so I feel confident on my rating. Seeing it as entertainment, without putting too much thought into it, the series is OK. If I pay attention, though, I see a side of Japanese society in it that I don’t like: employers taking advantage of female employees, men cheating, women saying “marry, and you won’t have to work”, and other minutiae.

“Romantics Anonymous” (★★★★★) was warm, sweet, without intrigues, suspense, nor sadness. It truly was a delight to watch. From it:

“Sarang: It’s the feeling of wanting to bring more happiness to the one you love.”

Though sarang (사랑) means “love” in Korean, they gave it the above meaning in the series. Anyway, watch it, and you will live that feeling too!

Can’t wait for the next season of “Alien: Earth”, even though we have now cancelled Hulu. Who knows, maybe by the time the next season comes out, Hulu would had had another “Black Friday” special. I am OK paying $1.12/month—or ≤ $5/month—for it, but not $11.99/month.

We have renewed Hulu now, which this time comes with Disney+. It is setting us back $5.65/month, which isn’t too bad, but $0.65 more than what I wanted to pay.

Imagine a modern day chef been transported back in time to the Joseon dynasty (old Korea) as the Royal Chef—title exclusively for males. While in it she manages to surf the politics, and court intrigues with wit, all while making amazingly “exotic”, dazzling, delightful meals. That’s the gist—until now, because the series is ongoing—of “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty” (★★★★★) , with a new episode coming tonight, and another tomorrow. Can’t wait!

The king on this series is loosely based after the real historical figure Yeonsangun, which, according to Wikipedia, is “often considered the worst tyrant in Joseon’s history and perhaps all Korean history”.

“Alien: Earth” just got a few notches more interesting last night. Now we wait until next week. I have to acknowledge; even though bingeing is nice, the anticipation of waiting to see what’s next can’t be beaten.

We have been watching “Alien: Earth” (★★★★☆) on Hulu and, though it is an ongoing series, I can safely rate it. I like it! Quite entertaining, offering a completely different plot twist to the “Alien” movies.

I have been watching “The Bear” with the kid (★★★★☆) . As you can see, I am liking it quite much, though at the very beginning I had serious doubts. The only reason I stuck with it was/is I am watching it with the kid. Patience and bonding paid off, alright. If it is included on wherever you get your streaming from, I recommend it. From the first episodes one of my favourite quotes:

“You’re watching the fire and you’re thinking, ‘If I don’t do anything, this place will burn down and all my anxiety will go away with it.’”

I empathise with that one so very much. It’s just, being inactive in cases like this is something I haven’t been able to do. But I digress. Watch it!

Re-watching “Mr. Robot” (★★★★★) because it has been 10 years or so—where did the time go?!—since I last watched it. It is as awesome as I remember it.

456 didn’t deserve to die. Many others didn’t deserve to die, but 456 especially didn’t. I need a Wellness Center. I need Ms. Casey.

We are watching “Squid Game” season 3, which has been good, so far—I will wait until we’ve watched all episodes to rate. My favourite is 222 (careful, that link has spoilers!). My second favourite is 149.

I am ready to rate “Squid Game” season 3 (★★★★☆) now. It was entertaining, albeit sometimes too slow. I found season 1, and 2, to be better.

At the end of every episode of “The Big Bang Theory” (★★★★☆) they used to show a Chuck Lorre Productions “card”. This one was my all-time favourite:

The Prophet
A young woman stepped forward from the throng and asked, “O’ great prophet, tell us how we might find love that is unconditional, unwavering and unending.” The prophet did not answer right away. He looked off into the distance, gathering his thoughts. Silence descended upon the crowd. Then he turned his gaze upon the young woman and said, “Get a dog.”

According to kid, “Squid Game” season 3 is pretty much the same as it was on season 2, which was pretty much the same as it was on season 1. Whether that’s accurate or not, he isn’t interested on watching it. That could mean I will not watch it either, as he usually is my binging buddy.

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 is over now. I found the last episode to be lack luster, and rather disappointing, but the series in general is pretty stupendous. Kid told me season 3 is in the works, so I can’t wait! Meanwhile… what to watch next?

Awesome Father’s Day this year (it isn’t never bad but this year felt a bit more… “special”). And to top it off, I am off tomorrow. Yay! And while having “off” around, off I go to watch “Jujutsu Kaisen”, season 2!

Now I have watched enough “Jujutsu Kaisen” season 2 (★★★★☆) episodes to be able to rate it. The rating is based on my difficulty to understand what’s going on. Honestly, if it weren’t for the kid, who patiently—but mockingly—explains things to me, I would be lost.

Tonight, before the kid and I engage on a mini-binge of “Jujutsu Kaisen” season 2, I will search and learn, at least, 10 character names. I am sick and tired of having him mock me because I can’t remember names. 😡

From “Fallout” comes this nugget of “wisdom”. It’s true, though, time is the apex predator. Now, about outliving… that’s the challenge. No one can outlive time.

“What is the ultimate weapon of mass destruction? Time. Time is the apex predator. And in the event of an incident, time is the weapon with which we will defeat all of our enemies. That is how we will win the great game of capitalism. Not by outfighting anyone, but by outliving them.”

“Page 197 slaps”. From “The You You Are” book comes that excerpt, which will be relevant for the ages.

Finished watching “Fallout” (★★★★☆) season 1 with the kid last night, after a little binge marathon that lasted 4, or 5 days. Pretty good, wholeheartedly recommended! I liked it more than “The last of us” (★★★☆☆) , for sure. Now we can’t wait for season 2!

I was talking to George earlier today about the rewatchability of mangas, and we both agreed that “Jujutsu Kaisen” has a high rewatchability rate. I liked the series—and movie—so much, that I even got me a t-shirt with Kento on it. Took it to our Japan trip, and I managed to get a bunch of school girls giggle, or laugh, while covering their mouth, and pointing at my direction. 🤭😅

Watching “True Detective” (★★★★☆) with the kid, as a farewell to this small break that’s ending. Watched season 1, and I liked it enough for the rating. I’ve got to say, though, that the beginning was too slow for my liking. And I am a patient man. 😅

Watched all “Secret Level” (★★★☆☆) episodes last night. Just like “Love Death + Robots”, I was left wanting to see more. My favourite episodes, S1E2: “Sifu: It takes a Life”, and S1E11: “Exodus: Odyssey”.

Finished watching volume 4 of “Love Death + Robots” (★★★☆☆) , and the day is still young. I would call this a good start of a weekend.

It only gets three and a half stars from me because not all episodes are good. Yet, it was entertaining, as previous seasons have been, nonetheless. My favourite episode was V4E7, “The Screaming of the Tyrannosaur”.

Tonight we will finish watching “Solo Leveling” (unless the kid, who has a cold, goes to bed early). I’ve got to tell you, between “Attack on Titan” (★★★★☆) and “Solo Leveling”, I prefer the second 50 times.

This has been completed. It was a truly good manga series! Thus now the wait has commenced for the arrival of the next season. Can’t come soon enough!

I am, suddenly, feeling the desire to watch the “Shogun” series once more.

“Solo Leveling” has taken us by storm. We are now on season 2, episode 17, and tonight we stopped because kid has to do homework, and study a bit. I, of course, work tomorrow. I’ve got to tell you, though, I am going to miss these anime series…

Now more than ever I want to play a necromancer class that’s truly minion centric, and powerful. A gamer can dream.

Following a strong recommendation from George, I started to watch “Solo Leveling” (★★★★★) last night with the kid. We finished the first four episodes. It is quite entertaining, and relatable—we have played plenty of RPGs in the past.

Now that that’s done, I can resume watching this. So much to do, so little time! 😅

Finished watching “Severance” last night. Had to renew for another month to watch the last episode, but $10 for all the available episodes was worth it. Can’t wait for season 3, for sure!

Watching “Severance” (★★★★★) for the first time with the kid. We are using a week’s free AppleTV+ subscription from Amazon Prime, so it truly is an against-the-time binge. The series are awesome, and I wonder how come I didn’t see it before. All works out, though, as I enjoy watching series with the boy.

Encouraged by George I have started to watch “Star Trek: The Original Series” (will rate later), which were released before I was born. Yep, I am watching them for the first time, that many years after. 😅
