We have been watching “Dark” (★★★★☆) , a Netflix series. It is, sort of, similar to “Stranger Things” (★★★☆☆) , though it has a more “scientific” twist in it which makes it very appealing to me. I have also been enjoying its German cast very much; a refreshing change to the more-than-well-known cast in American series. The series itself is 100% more credible because of their setting, as they are not manicured and “perfect”, like the series around here are.
netflix oobie seriesDo you want to take a leap of faith, or become an old man, filled with regret, waiting to die alone?
Because it is leaving in two days, I was forced to watch “Inception” (★★★★☆) . It was worth it. The problem is, I will need to watch it twice more to get a full grasp. Am I sleeping? Where is my totem?
movies netflixThank you for being a valued member since 2012. We hope you’re enjoying everything Netflix has to offer. We’re updating your monthly price to $26.99 (pre-tax) on May 26th, 2026.

netflix rantsThough much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
Sunday night the kid and I watched “Skyfall” (★★★★☆) , I figure for the fourth time? It was the first, though, that I paid closed attention to remember some of the poem that Q recited (above), “Ulysses”, by Lord Tennyson.
movies netflix oobieJust finished watching “Left-Handed Girl” (★★★★★) , a Taiwanese drama. It felt real. It is sad, with touches of happiness. I lived the struggle with the mum, her daughter, and the granddaughter. I felt their sadness, and enjoyed their happy moments. It is the perfect movie to end the weekend with.
movies netflixWas watching “Doctors” (★★★☆☆) today. It was great the first 3 episodes. By episode 5 I don’t think I want to continue. Well, I am sure I don’t want to. I’d rather avoid 15 episodes of getting upset, or shaking my head in disbelief, or both.
It was a good try, and not time wasted. It would have been if I continue watching. So, calling it a wrap now is the sensible thing to do.

I am watching “Wednesday” (★★★★☆) with the kid. It is pretty entertaining, and the actor on the main role, Jenny Ortega, totally aces it. I had started to watch it alone when the first season came out, but Horsie diverted me elsewhere. Glad it happened, so that I can have a watching pal this time around!

Currently on season 2 of “The Pride of the Temp” (★★★★☆) , a Japanese drama series based around an extremely skilled temp worker (派遣, haken), and her incredible array of obscure certifications and skills.
Often reminding me of “The Office”, the series uses Haruko’s (the main character and temp worker) encounters with her fulltime workmates to humorously explore the social and economic divide between permanent and temporary employees in Japan’s corporate culture.
japan netflix seriesLast Sunday the kid and I watched “The Mask” (★★★★☆) , which I have seeing numerous times before, but it was the first time for the kid. See, he doesn’t like comedies. He has a fairly strict taste when it comes to genre while me, on the other hand, give a chance to almost anything. Anyway, back to “The Mask”, he liked it! If only he would give other movies a chance…

This weekend we have watched two movies, so far. “Joy Ride” (★★★★☆) , a comedy, was fun to watch. With never a dull moment, and surprising—often shocking—hilarious outcomes, it kept us laughing in between WTFs. If you are into comedies, with a girl’s twist, you will like this one.
“Wonka” (★★★★☆) was a joy to watch. Not quite a musical, I would say, even though it is, it was entertaining and well done. It was a new twist to Willy Wonka, seemingly the precursor of the Wonka movies we have seeing before—you know, before he builds his factory.
horsie movies netflixWe are finishing watching “Tōkyō Tarareba Girls” (★★★★☆) with just one episode left, so I feel confident on my rating. Seeing it as entertainment, without putting too much thought into it, the series is OK. If I pay attention, though, I see a side of Japanese society in it that I don’t like: employers taking advantage of female employees, men cheating, women saying “marry, and you won’t have to work”, and other minutiae.

Watching “Call me Chihiro” (★★★★★) for the third time felt like watching it the first time. I like that movie so much! It is sad but, at least to me, also hopeful, heartfull, sweet, and real. I strongly believe we all need a Chihiro in our lives.
japan movies netflix“Romantics Anonymous” (★★★★★) was warm, sweet, without intrigues, suspense, nor sadness. It truly was a delight to watch. From it:
“Sarang: It’s the feeling of wanting to bring more happiness to the one you love.”
Though sarang (사랑) means “love” in Korean, they gave it the above meaning in the series. Anyway, watch it, and you will live that feeling too!
japan netflix seriesLast night was movies night with Kim. We saw “About My Father” (★★★★☆) first. It is a comedy, so we enjoyed it quite a bit. Good cast, light, but entertaining plot. I would recommend. The second movie we saw was “Ice Road: Vengeance” (★☆☆☆☆) , which was a total, and absolute flop. The only reason we finished watching it was because of the time we had already invested on it. Avoid at all cost; trust me on this one.
horsie movies netflixImagine a modern day chef been transported back in time to the Joseon dynasty (old Korea) as the Royal Chef—title exclusively for males. While in it she manages to surf the politics, and court intrigues with wit, all while making amazingly “exotic”, dazzling, delightful meals. That’s the gist—until now, because the series is ongoing—of “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty” (★★★★★) , with a new episode coming tonight, and another tomorrow. Can’t wait!
Update: 18 Oct 2025 @ 18:19:25
The king on this series is loosely based after the real historical figure Yeonsangun, which, according to Wikipedia, is “often considered the worst tyrant in Joseon’s history and perhaps all Korean history”.
kdramas netflix seriesWas just watching “The Penguin Lessons” (★★★★☆) , which I am rating even though I havent finished it—because The Horse urgently needed to know on what I spent some money almost a year ago, and I had to stop watching to search for receipts on my computer, because searching on the pocket (iPhone) one wasn’t rendering any results.
Update: 02 Oct 2025 @ 07:30:05
I just finished watching the movie, and I am revising my rating to 4 stars instead. It is a good movie, based on real events.

We are watching “Squid Game” season 3, which has been good, so far—I will wait until we’ve watched all episodes to rate. My favourite is 222 (careful, that link has spoilers!). My second favourite is 149.
Update: 27 Feb 2026 @ 16:16:05
I am ready to rate “Squid Game” season 3 (★★★★☆) now. It was entertaining, albeit sometimes too slow. I found season 1, and 2, to be better.
kdramas netflix series
According to kid, “Squid Game” season 3 is pretty much the same as it was on season 2, which was pretty much the same as it was on season 1. Whether that’s accurate or not, he isn’t interested on watching it. That could mean I will not watch it either, as he usually is my binging buddy.

Finished watching volume 4 of “Love Death + Robots” (★★★☆☆) , and the day is still young. I would call this a good start of a weekend.
It only gets three and a half stars from me because not all episodes are good. Yet, it was entertaining, as previous seasons have been, nonetheless. My favourite episode was V4E7, “The Screaming of the Tyrannosaur”.
netflix seriesWatched “The Conclave” (★★★★★) last night, as I hadn’t watched it, and I though it was the suitable thing to do, considering current events. I liked it very much.
movies netflixFinished bingeing “Crash Landing on you” (★★★★★) for the third time last week. This week will be a break away from the tely week, then next week I am planning on revisiting “The Borgias” (★★★★★).
kdramas netflix series“San Junipero” (★★★★★) , series 3, episode 4 of “Black Mirror” (★★★★☆) , remains my favourite of all times. I just watched it again, for the fifth time.
netflix seriesWatched “Blue Eye Samurai” (★★★★★) during the holidays, and truly loved it. Can’t wait for season 2. If you have Netflix, and haven’t watched it, I strongly recommend you do.
The plot is nice, the voices are excellent, the animation is amazing. See it, it’s really good!
netflix series“See you in my 19th life” continues to be exciting, engaging, and overall lovely. Saw the most recent episodes last night, and I can’t wait for the next weekend 🙈. Imagine if re-incarnation was possible, and on top of it you remembered your previous lives? Anyway, no spoilers! A sweet plot twist on these series.
kdramas netflix seriesWe watched the first episode for season 6 of “Black Mirror”, “Joan Is Awful” (★★★☆☆) , and were kind of disappointed. I am not going to provide spoilers, but you be the judge when you see it. Hoping the other episodes are better.
netflix seriesWatching “See you in my 19th life” (★★★★★), a Korean series based on a webtoon. I like it! It is quite new, which means two episodes per week. Now I will have to wait for the next weekend. 😩
kdramas netflix seriesStarted to watch “A King’s affection” last night. Upon seeing, on first episode, one of the twins being killed, I completely lost all desire to continue watching. Let’s see what Kim brings next.
